Tiny Pics for the Tiny Fam (ALSO FLAGGED)

Sorry this is YET ANOTHER post that is not about the Tinys but I like to share the things I’m working on. Today it is some tiny accessories for the Tiny house.

If you don’t know I have an extensive but eclectic collection of Re-ments which are Japanese Miniatures that usually come in small sets. You can buy individual blind boxes which I sometimes do but sometimes it is cheaper just to buy entire sets.

So I do.

I have this set:

Petit Sample – Haikara Taisho Roman Tei

image

And today we will focus on Set 3: Monokaki wa neru mae no nikka

image

And recently purchased this:

Moomin Warm House Nuku Nuku Fuyugomori (I know nothing of Moomins and care nothing for them but THIS SET IS SO APPROPRIATE FOR THE SEASON)

image

Look to Set 4: Danro no soba ni wa

image

And we measure things. And we select a few photos and we print them.

And we print this (this page is A4 sized):

image

And we print multiple sizes because measuring accurate in miniature is DIFFICULT. Also sometimes the printer is weird or

Shit happens.

I made the size I thought was accurate and then made sizes smaller and bigger. As you can see from the results it can vary.

image

Then we find the size that is appropriate.

And we cut them as accurately as possible. A good pair of paper scissors is important. Here is mine:

AND THEN WE HAVE PHOTOS

Don’t worry if they fall out just use a teeeeeny tiiiiinnny bit of blu tak to hold them in place.

Those of you who have seen my FunCcnio’s Winter Soldier Rose set:

may recognise this small hat. I actually really don’t like small hats in this shape but I still felt there were pieces of the hat that I liked.

>:D So I ripped them off.

It wasn’t too hard because the hat was pretty much put together with a glue gun so everything detached cleanly but it did take a bit of forces with the little gun decorations.

I detached the bow and glued on a clip from the actual hat (it was harder than I thought to hold open the clip, glue the inside and quickly push it through the centre of the bow but it ended up working) and then I had a clip on bow.

Luckily the little gun decorations already had some loops on the ends of them so I sewed them onto a chain necklace I had lying around and hid the stitches with tiny black roses.

I may detach the roses and glue them to the other clip in future but I have a lot of projects going on at the moment.

I’ve fallen a little behind on posting these, but here’s a recent Etsy commission: Lance Tucker from the 2015 The Bronze, played by Sebastian Stan, which is why the buyer wanted one. This is a repainted Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell, with a Barbie water bottle and sunglasses from an American Girl Mega Construx set I happened to find on clearance after spending way too long fruitlessly searching for action-figure sunglasses.

IT’S PERFECT

pardon my caps but WHERE DID YOU FIND THE TINY TSUM CLAW MACHINE IT IS TOO ADORABLE FOR WORDS

marveltsumtsumadventures:

Hehe, it’s actually a Pokemon machine, but I changed it up to be a tsum tsum one.

Here’s what it is supposed to look like:

image

The capsules have a clear insert inside and Pokemon stickers that you stick onto those, to look like there is a Pokemon toy inside. I just replaced those and the sign with printouts of tsum tsums that I found on google.

Here are better pics of the edited machine.

I ought to spice it up a bit more with a sticker over the front and something sitting on the peg, but I was in a rush. XD

DAWWWWW

I was going to do something similar to my tiny claw machine but never got round to it

Bearded Steeb’s head

A summary of Not So Tiny Bearded Steeb’s head:

image

The Captain America unmasked heads that I own. Surprisingly the one with the least wonky eyes is the one I paid full price for. The other two were bought at Toyfairs. I chose to use the last head because damn are those eyes not painted right.

image

I have doubles of Steve in his Civil War suit (the reason I decided to do this custom in the first place.) I ended up using Not So Tiny Injured Steeb just because his suit is slightly lighter than the none “battle damaged” version and I like the darker version. While he is harder to get (being part of a three pack) I bought him for less at a Toyfair.

image

I cut off the front of the fringe as it sticks out too much. After removing the paint with nail polish remover (I do have proper acetone but I find the nail polish remover is not as harsh and it works well enough on removing the paint on faces) I scrubbed the head clean and sculpted on it using the Tamiya Quick Dry Type Epoxy Putty. I learned the hard way NOT to use it when my heater is on as it becomes a sticky mess. I have used Aves Apoxie but I find the Tamiya Putty sticks to plastic easier and isn’t as fiddly once you get the hang of it. It also doesn’t sink down as easily. To sculpt I used a small awl. Some people use toothpicks but I find they go too blunt too quickly when I use them.

image

Sculpting the hair was a challenge as I’m not very good at figuring out how short hair falls.

image

Comparing the before and after.

image

I realized one side of the hair was bigger than the other so I added more volume to even it up.

image

Late night painting the skin.

image

Mixing up the skin tone was a pain but eventually I just settled on one. Then began the challenge of painting eyes.

image

I decided to have the eyes look slightly up so that Bearded Stee would forever be glaring up at people from under his brows.

image

Painting the hair was very annoying. This was just the base coat.

image

I attempted to dry brush the hair and added some colour to the lips as well as very, very lightly adding some shading to the cheekbones, under the eyes and in the brow furrows. Honestly he’s so tiny you can only really see them right up close but I will know it’s there.
